– It is the first time when Alstom participates at the Rail Expo. As the business development director in Europe, I am very happy to be here today. Alstom is the world leader in providing mobility solutions. It is a team of 34,150 employees working in 60 countries worldwide. We are proud that Ukraine is among them. Realizing Ukraine’s great need for modernization, we will be happy to provide various technical solutions. The first step in this direction is the memorandum of understanding with the Ukrainian railways on electric locomotives, which was signed a month ago. We work deeply to offer the best solutions for freight and passenger locomotives, including the possibility of financing. We are also planning to develop our business in Ukraine.
Secondly, Ukraine deserves reliable partners to strengthen her industrial activities and complete renewal of her rolling stock. Alstom is ready to share its expertise and strives to be in close cooperation with the customer to develop the local competencies. We have invited Ukrainian suppliers to discuss a potential partnership for joint activities around the world. We are proud of the opportunity to expand the list of our suppliers thanks to Ukrainian enterprises.

Back in July 2018 Alstom opened a representative office in Ukraine, and at the InnoTrans exhibition held in Berlin in September the leadership of Alstom and the deputy head of Ukrzaliznytsia Yevgeny Kravtsov signed a memorandum of intent for cooperation.
Evgeny Kravtsov, Deputy Head of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia, PJSC:
– The memorandum is the starting point for our cooperation with the French company. Our strategic goal is to renew the fleet of locomotives. We are actively exploring the options how to renew the electric fleet effectively. Almost 47 per cent of Ukraine’s railways were electrified, but the goal is to increase the electrified territories to 54 per cent in two years. Cooperation with Alstom is very important for us, since the company has considerable experience in production of 1520 mm-track electric locomotives. In addition, the maximum possible localization at Ukrainian enterprises is a necessary condition for cooperation with Alstom.
Alstom has an impressive experience in building fleet for the 1520 mm track gauge. For example, Alstom-built freight and passenger locomotives have been successfully operating in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan since 2010, being perfectly adapted to local conditions. Heavy freight locomotives PrimaT8 have a very high load capacity. They show the most powerful traction work on electrified networks, providing the adequate comfort and maximum safety over long routes. The newest types of Prima T8 such as KZ8A designed for Kazakhstan and AZ8A built for Azerbaijan are able to transport up to 9,000 tons of cargoes at a time with a speed of 120 km/h. Locomotives are adapted to the most severe conditions – from desert climate to extreme frost of -50ºC.
